My new Computer
Well, last year, it dawned on me that I should make myself a new computer, which is not to be connected to the net, exclusively for playing single player games, and the computer that I have, and that I am using right now, is totally inadequate for this.
This particular (inadequate) machine comes with the following specs:
AMD Sempron 64 2500+ processor
Asrock K8NF4G Mainboard (on-board VGA is being used right now. Geforce 6100)
1GB 333MHz Kingston RAM
250 GB Hitachi Deskstar Hard Drive
500 GB Lacie External Hard Drive
Liteon 16x DVD Writer (almost broken)
3.5" Floppy Drive (what the hell for?)
Windows XP SP2
The new machine that I assembled includes the following (All parts as of now):
AMD 64X2 4000+ (probably a bit less than it should be, but a great deal nonetheless)
MSI K9N-SLI F Mainboard
6GB DDR2 PC-6400 800MHz A-Data RAM
Evga E-GeForce 8600GT with 512MB DDR2 RAM
1 x 60GB Maxtor IDE Hard Drive
2x 500 GB Maxtor SATA Hard Drives (making a total of a terabyte of storage)
Samsung 20X DVD Writer
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
Games like Crysis works quite well in this new rig, but the problem lies in the fact that I can't get the maximum out of games due to the DDR2 RAM in the Video Card. Because of this, I decided to buy myself the new 9600GT (I bought one off Amazon.com for about $189 just today, and I will be expecting the card to be delivered within 2 weeks).
Buying this rig has got me in financial trouble and I have planned out a 6-8 month flexible program to get rid of the debt in the form of a massive credit card bill.
As for time to play video games, well, I think it's a matter of prioritising what comes first.
